Doctrinal Statement

We believe that sound doctrine is absolutely vital to the integrity of the gospel and the mission of the church. "If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing" (1 Timothy 6:3-4). At the same time, we are a church committed to engaging our culture - and many people in our culture have had bad experiences in churches with otherwise "good doctrine." To these people, doctrinal statements mean very little, because we all know it's possible to have good theology and be a bad Christian.

So we strive to be a community that both affirms the truth content of the gospel and experiences the transforming reality of the gospel. As we say elsewhere on this website, "We know lots of people who embrace true theology and are still jerks. So don't expect us to be impressed with your orthodoxy if it's not making you a nicer person."

We are aligned with the Acts 29 Network, and we adhere to their doctrinal statement, as well as to the historic Nicene and Apostles' Creeds.
