We were actually in the midst of a time of prayer at the office when this week's Baked Goods arrived. Another sign of Christ's promise: "Ask and you shall receive."

you mentioned at the ash wednesday service that sundays are not counted during the 40 days of lent, as they were always days of celebration in contrast to the solemnity of lent. i wonder if we should begin excluding tuesdays as well.

Patrick,

I think them might be fightin' words. The office staff, who do work long and hard all week, take this "providential" thing seriously. I am wondering myself if baked goods could be replaced by encouraging words or hugs or reassurances that the pastors and staff are being prayed for. I hesitate to say those sorts of things as it does not sound masculine or, it might make someone feel guilty. As for Ivy, I wonder if she would turn into a mean person if we deprived the baby of BGT... I don't know... It's all a mystery. Kind of like what that whole office is trying to communicate about BGT.

anonymous, i think you misunderstood. i was thinking that BGT might be excluded from the 40 days of lent in the same way that sundays dont count. because it is a day of jubilation, it is not part of the same solemn feast that lent is. i by no means meant that BGT should be removed from the church calendar, simply that we should add on another week to lent so that we can celebrate on BGT in the same way that we celebrate on Sundays. hope that makes sense and that you find your identity soon.
