World Refugee Day

This Saturday at Benson High School, the Refugee Task Force of Omaha will be hosting World Refugee Day. This will be a time to learn about refugee issues and also to celebrate through musical and dance performances. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Benson High School, 5120 Maple St. Also on hand will be educational panels, a job fair, a fashion show, children's carnival, and sports such as volleyball and soccer. From one of the spokesmen, "This day is to create awareness, but also to celebrate the rich heritage of these peoples and the diversity and strengths they bring to our communities. It’s a fun day for families with an important purpose behind it." This is a small step to begin to learn more about what is going on in and around Omaha and what it looks like for the Gospel to bring transformation and renewal to all parts of our city. Click on the flyer below for more details surrounding the event...

Hannahisms

1. [Regarding his PhD in philosophy] … I’ve worked with the theory of knowing, and concluded that you can’t know. My colleagues agree. They just won’t acquiesce.

2. When I preach, I am trying to put a category into people’s minds called Christ. And if the Spirit would bless it, to make it beautiful to them, it will influence their affections. People will choose what they like.

3. The private us is less than the public us.

Hannahisms

1. A saint is not a person without problems. A saint is a person who doesn't allow his problems to abort his ministry.

2. A friend is a person who never believes the best things you say because he knows you're a liar, but never believes the worst things you say because he thinks better of you than that.

3. You can only be direct in peoples' lives to the point that they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you love them.
