I love the depth of hymns.
They are too often overlooked in the younger church.

Yes, a great connection Nicole.

"And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Col. 2:13-14)"

I was just thinking lately about how I am looking forward to the worship album coming out! All the songs this Sunday really got to me, but I too, especially enjoyed the lyrics of I Boast No More. I love the lines Kendal pointed out. In light of the sermon and being further reminded that it is about bringing glory to Jesus and not myself, I also really thought about the lines:

My former pride, I call my shame
And nail my glory to His cross.

It especially stuck out to me because of the connection to the line in It Is Well With My Soul...My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

So thankful for the cross!

"I Boast No More" is overwhelming in its worshipful beauty. I have not yet made it through the whole song without choking up too much to continue singing at least once---I am regularly amazed that our worship leaders are able to get through some of these lyrics. One cannot, or at least I cannot approach this song without being reminded of the incredible sacrifice of Jesus and the way I can too frequently claim too much for my own glory. This song is such a beautiful and powerful illustration of His holiness and my own sinfulness--and Christ redeeming me through the cross. I am greatly looking forward to the worship album...
